Rosacea & Facial Redness Laser Treatment in Louisville

Less red. Less explaining.

Flushing that will not settle, broken vessels on the nose and cheeks, a face that looks sunburned when it is not. The Clarity II calms visible redness and closes the small vessels behind it, with no downtime to speak of.

Clarity II laser treatment room at Restorative Health, St. Matthews

Redness we treat

  • Rosacea flushing on the cheeks
  • Broken capillaries on the nose
  • Red patches on the chin
  • Redness left behind by acne
  • Spider veins on the face
  • A face that looks sunburned year round

How laser redness treatment works

Facial redness is mostly tiny blood vessels close to the surface, either widened or multiplied. The 1064 nm wavelength on the Clarity II is absorbed by the blood inside them, which warms and seals the vessel so it fades. The surrounding skin is spared. Over a short series of visits, the background flush settles and individual vessels disappear.

What to expect

Visits take about twenty to thirty minutes. The handpiece cools as it goes, and most people describe warmth more than pain. Afterward the face is flushed, sometimes a bit more than usual, for a few hours. By the next morning it has settled. Sun protection every day keeps the improvement, since sun is the biggest trigger for redness coming back.

Honest expectations

Rosacea is a chronic condition. Laser treatment is one of the most effective ways to reduce how it looks, and it works alongside prescription creams and trigger management, not instead of them. Expect a meaningful reduction in redness and visible vessels, with maintenance visits as needed. Our provider will tell you plainly what your skin is likely to do.

Good to know

Questions people ask us

Can a laser cure rosacea?
No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling. Rosacea is a chronic condition. What the laser does well is calm the visible redness and close the small broken vessels that make it show. Most people see a real difference and keep it up with maintenance visits.
How many sessions does redness treatment take?
Usually a series of a few visits spaced a few weeks apart, then a maintenance visit as needed. Our provider sets the plan after looking at your skin.
Does it hurt?
A warm, prickly feeling with cooling in between. Comfortable for most people. The face may be flushed for a few hours afterward.
Will it help broken capillaries on my nose?
Yes. Visible vessels on the nose, cheeks and chin are one of the best uses of the 1064 nm wavelength. They often fade after one or two treatments.
What should I avoid before a visit?
Sun and tanning for a couple of weeks, and let us know about any retinoids or medications that make skin sensitive. Come with a clean face.
Can I still use my rosacea prescription?
Usually, yes. Bring what you use to the consultation and our provider will coordinate the plan around it.
